UNSOLVED ONTARIO CRIMES SHOW (??)
CASE OF VIOLET SEMPLE
In November of 1975, Markdale, Ontario was stunned by the mysterious death of Violet Semple. The shock of the incident moved frightened residents so badly, many planned to vacate the quiet village in Centre Grey.
Time wore on and the case still wasn't solved. Plans were made for a TV documentary of the known facts of the event and were to be re-enacted by a film crew, then shown on Ontario's Global Television Network.
Much like in the cases of Wolf Dog and Stars Of The Town, the documentary was highly remembered by locals. Many tuned in to Global the first night the piece was broadcast. Even the librarian at the area high school recorded it for student study and interest. It was repeated a few times, but at a certain point, this piece was taken out of circulation. However, it wasn't entirely forgotten.
As of February , 2012, the Semple mystery was still on the books as "unsolved" and whether or not there exists any copies of the program, is a huge question mark, as Global has since undergone vast changes in both structure and ownership.
This page is dedicated to challenging residents past and present to remember the late Violet Semple, recall the details of the show and perhaps, assist in locating it for historical interest of residents.
