CASE OF VIOLET SEMPLE
In November of 1975, Markdale, Ontario was stunned by the mysterious death of Violet Semple. The shock of the incident moved frightened residents so badly, many planned to vacate the quiet village in Centre Grey.
Time wore on and the case still wasn't solved. Plans were made for a TV documentary of the known facts of the event and were to be re-enacted by a film crew, then shown on Ontario's Global Television Network.
Much like in the cases of Wolf Dog and Stars Of The Town, the documentary was highly remembered by locals. Many tuned in to Global the first night the piece was broadcast. Even the librarian at the area high school recorded it for student study and interest. It was repeated a few times, but at a certain point, this piece was taken out of circulation. However, it wasn't entirely forgotten.
As of August, 2018, the Semple mystery was still on the books as "unsolved" and whether or not there exists any copies of the program, is a huge question mark, as Global has since undergone vast changes in both structure and ownership.
In August of 2013, we received a message on anther website about the film. It was from Peter Guy Silverman, a Canadian TV personality who worked on Global-TV's "Code 10-78" and provided this info:
"I am the Silverman of Code 10-78 and I wrote the script for that segment. But unfortunately I can not offer any help in locating the show that went to air. I am trying to get a copy of the last two Code 10-78s for my grandchildren. Not easy.
